Step by step
Four milestones every new puppy parent meets — follow the path.
Set up a cozy space with soft bedding and a blanket that smells of mom and siblings. Add a ticking clock or heartbeat toy, play soft music, and plan a late-night potty break.
Pick a crate just big enough to stand and turn in. Make it inviting with treats and meals, start with short sessions, and keep it in your bedroom at night at first.
Offer plenty of chew toys, use a bitter apple cider vinegar spray on furniture, and praise good choices. Avoid punishment — redirect instead.
Brush out mats first, use lukewarm water and dog-specific shampoo, keep water out of the ears, and rinse slowly and thoroughly.

The heart behind the page
Animals have been the heartbeat of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Illinois, I was the kid who brought home strays, bottle-fed kittens, and sat for hours with any creature that needed comfort.
For more than 21 years, I worked as a veterinary technician, caring for pets through their happiest moments and their hardest ones. I held nervous dogs during exams, soothed anxious cats, and stood beside families during goodbyes that broke all of us.
Today I'm a memorial artist, songwriter, genealogy researcher, legal advocate, and ordained minister — but every part of my life still circles back to the four-legged friends who've walked beside me. They've taught me patience, loyalty, resilience, and unconditional love.
This page is my way of honoring them. Whether you're here to remember your own companion or simply to celebrate the joy animals bring, I welcome you with an open heart.
